    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) Op Wall Street zijn donderdag vijf van de acht AEX-genoteerde fondsen ten opzichte van het slot in Amsterdam lager gesloten. ASML boekte de grootste plus.

    ArcelorMittal sterkste stijger.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) Op Wall Street zijn vrijdag vier van de acht AEX-genoteerde fondsen ten opzichte van het slot in Amsterdam hoger gesloten. ArcelorMittal was met een winst van 0,3 procent de sterkste stijger, Unilever was met een verlies van 0,3 procent de sterkste daler, terwijl Shell vlak sloot.

    US Steel (NYSE:X) +2.6% in Monday's trading to a YTD high after Nippon Steel (OTCPK:NPSCY) (OTCPK:NISTF) President Tadashi Imai said he believes the views of the Japanese steelmaker and the U.S. government are converging on the company's plan to buy US Steel.

    "In my opinion, the U.S. government and we are moving closer to a mutual understanding that our acquisition of US Steel will help strengthen the U.S. steel industry and manufacturing through investment, including equity participation," Imai said.

    The two companies will continue negotiations with the Trump administration to reach an agreement on the terms of the equity purchase and future investment plans, Imai added, while declining to provide further details.

    The administration filed a motion to extend two deadlines in US Steel (NYSE:X) and Nippon Steel's (OTCPK:NPSCY) (OTCPK:NISTF) lawsuit against a U.S. national security panel to give the government more time to wrap up merger talks with the firms, a filing showed last week, marking the clearest indication that Trump might allow the deal to proceed in some form.

    Trump opposes Nippon Steel's (OTCPK:NPSCY) (OTCPK:NISTF) possible acquisition of the U.S. company, but has indicated he would allow the Japanese company to take a minority stake.

    Also, US Steel (NYSE:X) said in letter to shareholders that its board and management team have transformed the company into a modern steel producer "through the strategic shift to investment in electric arc furnaces partnered with a streamlining of the legacy footprint and divestiture of non-core assets, resulting in superior financial performance and returns to stockholders compared to our peers

    Zal het toch nog goed komen met de overname, dan kan arcelormittal eindelijk alleen voort in de VS.
